our beliefs

God

We believe that God is the Creator of everything and that he exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 64:8Matthew 3:16–17Matthew 28:19; John 16:7–15; Hebrews 1:2–3

Jesus Christ

We believe in the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on a cross as the substitutionary atonement for sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven and one day will physically return to earth in power and glory.

Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-18; Matthew 27:54; John 14:6-7; Colossians 1:15-23; 1 Timothy 1:15

Humanity

We believe God created human beings, male and female, in his own image. Men and women are sinful at birth but enjoy equal access to God by faith in Jesus Christ. Human beings exist to bring glory to God. Men and women are called to significant engagement in family, church, and civic life.

Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:3

Scripture

We believe the Bible is God’s Word, a true and fully accurate account of God’s revealed will for us. It’s purpose is for teaching, encouraging and correcting.

Psalm 19:7–10; 2 Timothy 3:15–17; 2 Peter 1:19–21

Salvation

Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin, was physically resurrected, and now offers a restored relationship with God as a free gift to all who believe in him.

John 3:16; Acts 2:22–39; Romans 3:21–24

Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ on earth. The church is distinguished by her gospel message, her ordinances, her great mission, and, above all, by her love for God, for one another, and for the world.

1 Corinthians 12:12–31; Ephesians 4:11–16; Colossians 1:18–20; Colossians 3:12–25; 1 Peter 2:9; Hebrews 10:24–25

Gospel

The gospel is the good news that while we were sinners, God sent his son Jesus to live, die, and be raised in our place.  It is the good news that God accomplished our salvation in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:22–2:39; Galatians 3:131 Corinthians 15:3–15: 1 Corinthians 82 Corinthians 5:21

Baptism and Lord’s Supper

We believe that baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordained by Jesus himself. The former is a public confession of repentance and faith in Christ, and the latter is a symbolic remembrance of the atoning death of Jesus.

Matthew 3:6; Matthew 13–17Acts 2:38-41Acts 22:16; Romans 6:4–11; 1 Peter 3:21; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34
